Antifreeze won 1st place in the community favorite map vote on ForgeHub, the heart of the forge community for Halo.
I wanted to create a fast paced environment that complimented the advanced movement mechanics of infantry based combat while providing enough flexibility for light vehicular interaction with the Ghosts.
I thought an ‘M’ shaped vehicle path would serve as an interesting shape between infantry and vehicle routes. Connecting the end points together created a circuit to provide more fluid movement. Applying the figure 8 design philosophy and ended up with a more pretzel shaped topology as a result.
My work has been heavily recognized within Halo's level design community and I really enjoy helping others and providing feedback. Before Halo 5 released, I was invited to 343 Studios for the purpose of creating a new multiplayer map for the Big Team Battle playlist. I learned new tools and created a new map in just under one week!
During the design process, I had the pleasure of consulting with Senior Multiplayer Level Designers, Adrian Bedoya and Jeremy Raymond at 343. It was really helpful to obtain their feedback during play-tests because of how iterative the process is.
While designing this map, I was featured in a series of videos showing the development process of Halo 5: Guardians called The Sprint. Footage was shown of the map during its creation along with interviews talking about the design process with the rest of the team. I also took part in the filming of the Forge ViDoc showing the map editing tools for the first time.
